The Noun Project Partners with Essence for Iconathon Design Workshop
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making headlines daily. From advances in technology to musings about what the future holds, the quest to demystify and better understand how AI will impact our lives is top of mind. Essence and the Noun Project believe that creating clearer representations of AI-related concepts will help everyone better understand when the experiences they are interacting with are informed by AI and the degree to which those experiences utilize their personal information, so we're teaming up for an Iconathon design workshop to create a new set of public domain icons that better represent key concepts in AI.
Space is limited, please RSVP to join us here.
The workshop will kick off with presentations from two industry experts. Kenny Wu, VP of Product at Essence, will help define key concepts in AI and machine learning and explore AI's current and future impact on marketing and communications. Jaime Fisac, PhD Candidate - Control, AI, Robotics at UC Berkeley, will provide key info on how AI systems can utilize models of human cognition and behavior to ensure safe interaction with people. Noun Project’s Design Director Geremy Mumenthaler will then talk participants through semiotics, symbolism, and best practices for icon design, and we'll break into groups to sketch and design new icons together. Each participant group will include designers and subject matter experts, so everyone will be able to contribute. At the end of the workshop, we'll all review and vote for the final set of icons that will be vectorized and placed into the public domain, free for anyone to use.
No design or art skills are necessary, all are welcome to participate. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
